Steve Frank - Apex Designs Founder/Owner

Steve Frank is a mechanical engineer with over 20 years of experience in engineering design and fabrication. The unique combination of engineering and hands-on manufacturing experience allows Steve to create products that are equally well defined in both function and form. Steve grew up in Santa Barbara CA and studied journalism at Santa Barbara City College while pursuing his goal to compete in the 1988 Olympics in road cycling. A knee injury sidelined Steve’s cycling career, but re-kindled his passion for motorsports, where he dedicated many years of his professional livelihood as a driver, mechanic, and fabricator for various road racing teams and racing schools. While working for a professional sportscar team in Atlanta, Steve earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Southern Polytechnic State University. Shortly thereafter Steve turned his focus to machinery design and worked for several engineering and manufacturing firms before forming Apex Designs in 2005. Today, Apex Designs provides engineering, design, and fabrication solutions for applications in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, medical, defense, and communications. Steve attributes the success of Apex Designs’ projects to the standards he acquired in motorsports; where meticulous preparation and safety are both requirement to succeed and an ethical obligation.
